Sally and my mother were family and good friends when Sally and Ziggy lived in Brooklyn. We spent summers together with them in the catskills in various bungalow colonies in rock hill and woodridge. She and Ziggy and their friends, were a younger generation than my mom and dad … yet the friendship between Sally and my mom transcended the generations. Once Sally and Ziggy moved to Flushing my mom would travel into manhattan on the subway, then change trains to get to main street and then take a bus… to spend a few hours together with Sally. I don’t know what they talked about, perhaps they baked together, perhaps they talked about their children and life in America … i just remember the connection and how much that friendship meant to my Mom (who had also lost nearly her entire family in the Shoah). For me, I adored Ziggy and Sally… they were elegant and stylish, they were always welcoming and created an atmosphere that was haimish and comfortable. Once they moved to Skokie my Mom and Sally stayed in touch and when we had the opportunity to come to a simcha my mom got to see Sally and spend a few days together. Then in 2009 or maybe 2010 I made a trip to Skokie and spent three days with Sally and Ziggy – the visit was too brief but it was so filled with the same warmth and welcome that I had grown up knowing was part of who they were. Growing up, there was NO ONE in my life quite like Sally…
I’ve only now found this memorial page (2022/10/7)
May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing for generations …
amen

I was so sorry to read of the passing of Sally. Please give Ziggy my love-I remember when they moved into the Seasons when I was the Executive Director and Ziggy always was so supportive and loving to her. And….Ziggy kept me on my toes as only Ziggy can. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is a very difficult time.
